All our framing plans are engineered. There are obviously certain instances where this changes but overall you end uf with a very solid and no less stable structure.

Marc Kleinmann

Re: Advanced Framing Techniques… or "How to build a better house" – Part2 of 7

Don't you loose on frame stability and strength by cutting down on lumber?

Re: AMC#1 | Countertop templates

"delete"

Re: A "sneak peak" into the upcoming Green Built Texas Existing Homes Program

Very interesting, you should do a post discussing green roofing incentives. I recently decided to invest in one after working in the field of roof construction. You should check that out.

Re: A "sneak peak" into the upcoming Green Built Texas Existing Homes Program

- delete

Re: A "sneak peak" into the upcoming Green Built Texas Existing Homes Program

A certification program for green builders sure sounds interesting! For custom home builders, the knowledge of building energy efficient homes would definitely be a plus.

Re: NAHB National Green Building Program – Seminar day 1

Interesting article! Thanks for the info. A certification program for green builders and contractors, particularly in an age where green homes are so much in demand is sure worth a look.

Re: Reclaimed long-leaf pine flooring | finishing

The floors had been installed for about 2 months and had plenty of tile to acclimate.

Re: Advanced Framing Techniques… or "How to build a better house" – Part2 of 7

Excellent post on building and insulation. As explained in your post, insulation products are an essential ingredient to quality build construction projects. A great resource to start with is the McGraw Hill exterior insulation directory. I work for McGraw hill and can vouch that I have never seen a more useful directory full of top quality solutions. You can get lists of products, manufacturers, detailed information, images, and even download CAD details from their site. Hope this helps.
